Course Description

The program aims to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills for their elderly caregiving roles. The Comprehensive Caregiving to the Elderly course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for elderly individuals effectively. The course consists of four modules, each focusing on different aspects of caregiving. Through a combination of videos, content, and self-assessment activities, learners will gain a deep understanding of elderly care and develop practical caregiving skills.

Course Contents

Overview:

The course is divided in 4 modules-

Module 1: Basics for Caregivers to Elderly 

  • Part 1: Understanding elderly care and the major roles of an elderly caregiver.
  • Part 2: Features and categorization of Elderly Individuals for understanding the mental/physical requirements.
  • Part 3: Building and maintaining a hygienic, safe and clean environment for elderly care with or without the support of family.

Module 2: Daily Care Routine for Elderly 

  • Part 1: Daily Care Routine- Performing scheduled activities in entire day- Before Noon
  • Part 2: Daily Care Routine- Performing scheduled activities in entire day- After Noon
  • Part 3: Extra Support activities- Preparing/serving meal and beverages, washing, attending visitors and recording daily vitals. 

Module 3: Physical and Mental Well being for Elderly 

  • Part 1: Physical well being, medications and recreational activities.
  • Part 2: Mental/Emotional well being and recreational activities.

Module 4: Emergency Preparedness and Rights-Duties of Elderly 

  • Part 1: Handling emergency situations
  • Part 2: Rights and duties of elderly person.
